News, Updates & Notes

Baby, For Freedom Sale, Dressember!

Greetings friends!

We hope this update finds you well and enjoying fall and the beauty it brings. We have quite a bit of news, so we’ll get right to it.

Most importantly, we are expecting another baby this spring! We are so very, very excited to welcome a new member to our family sometime around the end of April. We trust that Jane will be a great older sister and are doing our best to prepare her for what’s to come. So far she’s learned where her belly button is, given Jenny’s belly lots of kisses, and likes to sing to the baby. It’s a joy to watch her grow and learn new things. We hope to see a few of you on the road prior to the baby’s birth!

Due to the expected arrival date of the baby, our new record release has been delayed. We are working hard to figure out the best time to release the record and hit the road with a big tour! It isn’t feasible for us to release it and travel so extensively before the baby arrives, as we’ll have to give Jenny a bit of time to rest at home prior to the birth. However, we do plan on releasing a couple things this spring, so keep your eyes peeled!

20% off everything in our STORE

To celebrate the 1st anniversary of our For Freedom EP, and in light of Tyler’s favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, we’re having a sale! Since For Freedom‘s release one year ago, the EP plus the other benefit items (Sound of Silence single, onesie, posters, and tshirts) have raised $14,203.56(thanks to you!!!!) to fight human trafficking!!! We’ve been waiting to donate this because we found out that if we give on December 11th, that amount is going to be doubled, possibly even tripled, by a donor match. So if you’ve thought about buying the EP or a benefit item for yourself, or gifting it to a friend, now is a great time for that.

Sale ends Monday, December 1st.

Join Jenny’s team and support IJM

We’ve been honored to play a couple of benefits for the International Justice Mission (IJM) this fall. IJM is a human rights organization that fights human trafficking and modern day slavery. They are doing incredible work. If you’ve been to one of our shows in the past couple of years you’ve heard us tell stories of freedom. In the past 15 years, they have set more than 10,000 people free and put many former slave owners, traffickers, and abusers behind bars. We truly believe in the work that they do.

With this in mind, Jenny wants to invite you to participate in Dressember!

What is Dressember?
Dressember is a campaign designed to raise awareness and money for the International Justice Mission. Ladies, in the name of restoring beauty and dignity to women who’ve been exploited, used, and treated as less than human, you wear a dress everyday in December and ask your friends and family to sponsor you by making a donation to IJM. Jenny has set up a team that she would love for you to join. Together we can raise more money and shine an even brighter light on the realities of human trafficking than we could alone. If you don’t want to wear a dress, we hope you’ll consider joining us by making a donation or spreading the word on social media. Fellas, you can do the same! (Tyler has thought about getting a kilt, but we’ll see about that). We think that this is a great way for us to band together and make a difference. One thing to note: when you make a donation it will indicate that you are donating to The Dressember Foundation. The Dressember Foundation will then make a donation to IJM. Head over to Jenny’s team page and get started!

With so much to be thankful for!

Jenny & Tyler

 Jenny & Tyler: Bio

Acoustic guitar, mandolin and the kick-drum of an old suitcase drive catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics as Jenny & Tyler chronicle lives marked daily by love, joy, loss, doubt and redemption. Their blend of driving, percussive folk-pop rings of Mumford & Sons and Nickel Creek, and at times echoes popular male-female duos such as She & Him and fellow Nashville darlings The Civil Wars.

Their first major release, Faint Not (2010), found a captive audience in the likes of students and justice-seekers worldwide. The record’s title track is an anthemic tune, bolstered by words from the famous prayer of St. Francis, “Where there is hatred let me sow love, where there is injury let me pardon…”

The success of Faint Not catapulted Jenny & Tyler into a new season of busyness, but the opportunities brought by success led to a point of physical, emotional and spiritual exhaustion. The season of recuperation and reflection that followed inspired their latest full-length album, Open Your Doors (2012), produced by Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay, JJ Heller, Caedmon’s Call). The narrative arc of the album invites listeners to a place of rest—a space to voice their wonderings, lay down their burdens, and drink-in beauty, comfort and peace.

Jenny & Tyler don’t merely want to tell a good story, they want to live one. Instead of glossing over personal and global problems, they wrestle with issues like poverty, injustice, and apathy, starting with their own hearts. They are committed to compassion, charity and justice, evidenced, in part, through their ongoing support of International Justice Mission, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending human-trafficking throughout the world.

In November of 2013 Jenny & Tyler released For Freedom: A Covers EP. The EP is full of the duo’s favorite songs, ranging from tunes by U2 to Smashing Pumpkins to Simon & Garfunkel. The project benefits organizations that fight human trafficking. Download the Mastered for iTunes version at

For Freedom – A Covers EP (Released 11/12/13)

Jenny & Tyler | For Freedom | Cover Art

After five original albums, we thought it time to try something different.  Long have we had desires and interests to put our own spin on some of our favorite songs from our childhood, songs that have influenced the way we think about music today.  This project, For Freedom – A Covers EP, is the consummation of those interests and desires.  It released on Tuesday, November 12th, 2013, and all the proceeds go to organizations that fight human trafficking.

We’d like to take a little time to tell you why we chose the songs that we did.
