Today all ready feels like it’s been two days, and I’m sure that by the end of tonight it will feel like three. Do you ever have days like that? This morning we woke up super early (after going to bed super late) to go play some music at Avon Grove High School. The actual time spent at the school was great, but I’m discovering more and more that I’m really not a morning person–especially when I’ve only had a few hours of sleep. I came home and crashed (poor Tyler had to go to work), woke up 3 hours later, and since have been preparing for tonight at BSM and getting a few things done around the house. It’s a beautiful day outside! I’m sitting in the sunlight near our big front window. I love the warm weather.
Last weekend’s shows were really incredible–all for different reasons. The show in the rain on the green was fun–the sound guy befriended us and it turns out we actually have a lot in common. It was also really encouraging to have so many people stick with us through the bad weather. Thursday night at Kent was just a really fun gig. All of our friends were there and I even saw people I didn’t recognize singing along with some of our songs, which never ceases to amaze me. I don’t think I’ll ever really grasp the fact that people other than my parents enjoy listening to my music. 🙂
Friday night in New Jersey was a small gig in numbers, but every once in a while it’s nice to have a slim audience. We had an intimate show and were able to share a lot about our music and our story. Saturday night was one of the best shows we’ve played in a long time. We played at a church coffee house up in Media, PA. There were probably 40-50 people in attendance–all people we’d never met–and it was one of those coffee houses where the music really was the focus. People came, talked, ate some food, but when the music started they were all ears. It was so cool to have a captive audience. And, we ended up selling more CDs that night than we had since the CD release concert (at one time anyway.) We were blown away.
This weekend we’re gearing up for two shows. The first is at the Barn in Landenberg, PA. Its a benefit concert for some friends of ours that are taking a trip to Nigeria to do some humanitarian work over the summer. The show starts at 7:00p. On Saturday we’ll be playing three 30 minute sets at Ogletown Baptist’s community day. There will be food, games, and lots of people. It’s meant to be a community event, so even if you aren’t affiliated with a church or religion or anything, feel free to come out. The event runs from 1-4p at OBC. Directions as always are on the tour page.
Enjoy the gorgeous afternoon!
