So we’re officially on the road again. I’m going to try to do a much better job of blogging this time around. Tonight we’re in Vienna, VA at Jammin’ Java. It’s fun being at this venue because I actually have quite a few memories of going to shows here. I saw Marc Broussard, Blue Merle, Derek Webb, Alli Rogers, and a couple other people play here while I was in college. And, when I was in junior high and high school the band I was a part of recorded a couple demos here. They were terrible. But I still get a little nostalgic about it when I’m here.
Right now I’m sitting in the green room (which is red by the way—VERY red) listening to the headlining band sound check. They have an upright bassist—should be a good time. I’m looking forward to hearing some good music tonight.
Today Tyler and I explored old town Alexandria, VA for a little while. Let me tell you, it’s hot here. I mean, we live in Nashville and it’s hot there, but I think that VA is experiencing the hottest days of the summer right now. We walked around for about an hour and I was literally drenched in sweat. We stopped at a great little coffee shop (the name evades me) and cooled off with an iced coffee…but we still got really gross. It was pretty nasty in all honesty. But again, the coffee was quite good.
In other news, Tyler has been video taping lots of this tour, so you can all look forward to better youtube updates this time around as well.
Well, I’m getting hungry and thirsty. So I might see what I can find around here. Tomorrow night we’re playing at White Clay Creek state park in Newark, DE. We play two sets, one from 6:00-6:45, and the other from 7:15-7:45. So if you think you can stand the heat and you’re in the area, come on out! We’d love to see you.
